Blueberry Muffin Bum

I can't keep it to myself! I finished a short film, and it was a lot of fun. My old friend Corey Moore was in town for a visit and it was fun having him play a role in it. Plus it was fantastic bonding time, and I know he truly enjoyed making it. I can't wait to show it to him. Also, my dear David was the featured character. He did a FANTASTIC JOB! Who knows now he might take up acting. =)

This project was done for a class, I had a partner but I directed and edited it. She helped with the camera work (my least favorite part of the job). I am glad she had fun doing the camera work, because it made the hot long day of shooting so much easier on me.

I am showing it to everyone except David, and the reason being is that I'm throwing him a surprise birthday on Saturday and I am going to show the film at the party, but I can't keep it to myself until then. It will be a lot of fun (I told him I finished it and he's dying to see it but I keep saying "I'm having technical difficulties" lol So shhh)

Cinéma vérité That's Real Life

Hum, so I am taking summer classes. I am in an Israeli Cinema class. Very, very interesting and quite eye opening but A LOT of work. Wew, I've been up every night writing a 4-page paper. Yep, the class is 3 weeks long so we have LOTS of reading, and than we watch films and then we write papers over all of it. It's been challenging but doing well and it's almost over (At least for me, our professor is leaving for China on Wed. so we're done on Tuesday) but I have to write another 4-page paper and our final paper pretty much this weekend (guess how long that one is? 8 pages!).

I am looking for new part time jobs and a new internship. So updating my resume and putting together a film reel aka portfolio (basically it's a compilation of my work edited together so that employers can see clips of it). Wish me luck. I think I have my eye on an internship.

Networking=Hard WORK

Today I finished my last spring semester of college. Finals are over and I return back to school next week to begin my summer classes. The last few weeks have been an adventure.

Let's see...I've joined two book clubs. Yes, I said two! I've started reading things that I would have never thought about picking up. It's been interesting. I meet with one group next week. I look forward to it and truly look forward to meeting new people.

Also I've started attending a meeting that my mom attends, it's a group called Netweavers and it's a really cool thing. I told my mom I needed to network more and grow my customer base for Mary Kay. Being new to something like this it's hard, or at least it's been hard for me, but I've spoken to other women and they say it was all hard at the beginning. Netweavers essentially is a group that meets solely to help you build your business through networking and referrals. I have a couple of meetings set up with a few ladies, and also some of them have already offered me some really awesome ideas (they've already put in a few good words for me). I love the idea that Netweavers is there to help you grow your business.

Well, I am off to catch up with an old friend over coffee.

Spring Fever

April has been a long month, thank goodness it's almost over. Earlier this month I went on a shoot for "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?"(2nd time I've helped with this show) and it was fun. It was their 100th episode so they had everyone out at this shoot, from the network producers in LA to the producers of the show from NY. It was exciting, I enjoyed it but I basically was the PA for the day. Yes, I did go do the lunch run. Oh, well I was there helping, and that's what counts. I am not sure when the episode will be airing (they don't seem to tell production crew this stuff).

The Katie Mariah newsletter comes out tomorrow and finally the piece I've worked on for a long time, Making of "Hit the Ground Running" is released. You can check it out on youtube and it's being featured in the newsletter this month. I got some really good feedback about this piece and I can't wait for everyone to see it. This months newsletter I must say is the best one yet! I put so much time into it and I felt that I had a great amount of help and resources. I hope we can do it again!

This weekend I'm going on a shoot, it's some sort of documentary shoot. I'll let you know more when I find out.

Quick update on school, it's almost done for this semester. Next week is dead weak and the week after we have finals. I'm actually taking a final tomorrow; the professor gave us an opportunity to do it early so I jumped on it. When this semester is over I get a weekend off and jump right back in to summer school. I will be glad to have a change in classes (summer vacation will not start for me until first week of July.)

Spring Forward a Month

Okay, so I haven't blogged in A LONG TIME! I went the whole month of March without blogging. Well quick recap, at the end of Feb. Frozen Fire Films filmed Katie Mariah's music video for "Thinkin' Bout You." It's being edited right now but you can see a teaser. It's really awesome.

In March I began creating "Making of the CD" video for Katie Mariah. It's almost done! I thought I had finished it but Frozen Fire Films wants me to make it longer, which is awesome! Besides I like this project and I feel it's an honor that they've entrusted me with it. It should be done sometime this week but that doesn't mean it will be ready for your viewing. It has to be run by the boss for any last minute changes. Hang in there and you'll see it.

Yesterday I went into get a graduation check and drum roll please....all signs point to...GREEN! It's a go for December (Well of course I have to make it through my last few classes but you know what I mean). So I guess this means it's time to start planning for it when I get a free moment. Oh, there's that light at the end of the tunnel that everyone's been talking about. =)

That pretty much sums up what's going on. Well, that and working on the April Katie Mariah newsletter.

Katie Mariah Rockin' Hard in Texas!

WOW! I am so amazed. Katie Mariah had her cd release party last night. Yes I was there. Mindi (FFF) and I took MANY Pictures, there will be several up on her myspace very soon. I wish I had one on me to show you the massive crowd we had come out to support Katie.

When the crowd started pouring in I got really excited and giddy inside. I can only imagine how intense the feeling was for Katie, it must've been monumental for her! This has been a really cool experience! Katie is destined for good things!

The performance last night was amazing! Katie is AMAZING live, if you haven't seen this girly perform I hope you get the chance. I must say the opening was just right. Randy at FFF did a voice over opening with sound effects. I am sure we will have footage up very soon of the performance so you can see what I'm talking about. (Yes, I helped in the filming and more than likely I'll be getting my hands on the footage so I can edit it and mold it into AWESOMENESS.)

Okay, I'm about to burst with excitement. I had to save the last for best. Well...it's the best part for me. I would like to thank Katie so much for including me in the "Special Thanks" in her cd. Yes guys I will forever be part of the Katie Mariah's experience!

Videos! And MORE!

Classes started again this week. Trying to get back in the swing of having classes. My schedule is a bit more hectic this semester but at least I won't be having too many dull moments. Me dull moments? Nah! Never...

So this past week at FFF we've been working hard. I helped edit part II of Katie Mariah's radio interview. Go check it out. Also FFF has sent out the 3rd KM newsletter. I think our best one yet! Wrote most of the articles my self.

I also made a video for my brother Michael. I am quite happy with the results. Yep, I'm a one woman show! It features his interview with Randy Peterson at FFF. (Michael Schneider's Interview with Randy Peterson) Also make sure you hit the high quality button because youtube quality is terrible and I want to make sure you guys see it in high def.

I am going to start working on some more short Katie Mariah videos. I will let you know when they're up.

The Good News

Hey guys! Okay so this is going to be quick blog. I am actually at FFF today in the edit bay with Garrett. Katie just had her radio interview today and Garrett recorded it so we are in here editing it. Well, he's the one doing the work, I'm watching and put my input whenever I feel necessary. We will have it up soon and you can see it. It's pretty awesome.

Also good news for me. I am officially getting credit for my internship through UNT. I am pretty excited about getting college credit for all the work I've been doing.

And tomorrow I will be helping out with the making of the "Live DVD of Katie Mariah." It's a pretty big production, I will tell you more about it later. Better pay attention to what Garrett is doing.

Shining Mornings

I couldn't start my day without telling everyone. I have reached a milestone! Yes! Today when I woke up I had great news. I'm officially a senior. I called up my parents and told them. This is such an accomplishment for me (It's a semester early). Yes, I will be graduating in Dec of this year, a semester earlier than my expected graduation date. SUCH EXCITEMENT! My grandma always said I had a bright future like a shining star. Grandma knows best. Now to add the frosting on the cake for this wonderful morning I'm grooving to Feist. =) (You should check out this cool lady if you haven't already.)

On a work related note, I am helping create this new video for Katie Mariah. I have been going through hours of footage, all the way back to day one when Frozen Fire Films began to work with KM. It's been fun to see how far KM has come in just a short time. She started all this back in early July and now next month she's releasing an amazing cd! Any how back to the video, it's going to be a video about the "making of the cd." That way people can see all the hard work that went into the cd. I am working with the editor Garrett at FFF on this one. I am laying out the frame work and he's doing the finishing editing. It's going to be a really good piece. I cannot wait to share it with everyone!

Another good note, KM officially got her first radio play this week in East Texas, I would say listen in but everyone reading this that I know doesn't reside in East Texas. She will also be doing a radio interview later this week on the same station. When I hear the details about the interview, I can give the recap. Recently FFF has uploaded finished songs to her site that will be on the album. Go check them out and let me know what you think. Her music is more pop/country but her tunes are catchy. I found myself singing them now!

And still working on the January Newsletter, it will be out next week. =)

JANUARY! WOW!

Okay I cannot believe it's January 2009! You know what that means? I graduate this year! December 2009! If everything goes according to plan, and I attend school this summer I will be done. Okay, had to throw that in there because it's something I am really excited about.

So, on Tuesday I got my wisdom teeth extracted. Luckily for me I had 3 out of the 4 but one was impacted. So they're gone and out. I am almost ready to conquer solid foods again. I've been eating lots of pudding, yogurt and a bit of ice cream. It's been nice, minus the pain half way through eating. My procedure went really well. The following morning I was already talking and feeling pretty good. Today, I am still a bit soar in the lower jaw but tonight I promised David some of my famous enchiladas since he did such a grand job taking care of me. So, I will give solid food a go tonight. =) Also Lorelei helped tremendously in taking care of me. She's the one to thank for the homemade mashed potatoes last night. Most amazing I've ever had.

The Tune of Life

A quick recap of the holidays before I talk about work. Christmas eve was good, spent it with my family. Had the best turkey ever, dad made a great turkey and of course as soon as we turn the corner Dash had gotten ahold of the turkey. Yes, we found it on the floor, gnawed on, thank goodness we had already eaten. Christmas day was really good. Went to Austin Christmas day and hung out with David's family for a few days. Ate way too much and laughed until the abs had a work out.

I am back working hard on projects for FFF. What I am doing right now is editing footage from a live performance of a band called Bobby Mack and Southern Road. They are the good ol' boy country band, not the genre of music for me but it's another project to help me brush up on my editing skills. Not that I am not already awesome. haha Okay so I am trying to finish that, which is taking way longer than it needs to because my computer is being stubborn.

Another things I will be working on is trying to get Katie Mariah air time, I am doing research on radio stations in the South, and trying to put together a radio tour. More details to come later.

Even with all this work there's still going to be fun in the atmosphere. Having a shin-day for New Years, so looking forward to that tomorrow and my best friend comes home. She was doing study abroad all semester so I will also be seeing her while bringing in the new year. Another thing that's happening for me in the new year is oral surgery. Yep, it's unfortunate but I'm getting my wisdom teeth out the 2nd week of January. So if you don't hear much from me know that I will be in good hands, my dear David will be tending to my every need.

Promoting Katie has been fun but recently I have been doing a few tedious task. Other than the newsletter this week it's consisted of sending out pings, finding good sites to send pings to and keep updating them whenever Katie updates her blog. It's all about getting more traffic sent to her website. Go check out her blog, there have been several related to Christmas, who would have thought this time of the year would have come so fast?

Today and tomorrow I will be working on a small project, a video project again. YIPPY! I love editing. I feel that I've learned so much from FFF over these last few months especially the editor Garrett. This video isn't going to be a Katie Mariah related video but it will be for Tim at FFF. Tim is the one I have to thank for this opportunity. I've got the connection. =) My dad and Tim have known one another for quite some time now, Michael races with Tim's son Cole and that's how I found out about the production company FFF. Any how back to the project, Tim has asked me to make a teaser video for Cole's racing. It's to help promote a show, Tim is going to pitch it to a network and they will get to see my teaser. EXCITING!

Well for the next couple of days I will be busy with holiday festivities. I will be at home for Christmas eve, spending it with the family but on Christmas day bright and early David and I will be traveling to Austin to visit David's family for Christmas. I am really excited and cannot wait to take a short road trip. So as far as work goes, I am leaving everything work related at home. But as soon as we get back I will give everyone an update and let everyone know what's in the future the next few days.

The Reason Behind my Blog

I decided to create a blog to keep track of what I am doing for a production company in Dallas called Frozen Fire Films. I started getting involved towards then end of September. My family kept telling me, you need to document everything you're doing in order to build a portfolio. Well, this is going to be an online portfolio. This way I can keep track of what I've done, plus this will help keep my family up to date. I am constantly on the go and I need a way to share my work with everyone. =)

Now I know I am few months behind but here's a quick recap of what I am doing for Frozen Fire Films, first off it started with me going on some commercial shoots, I went on one for a dent repair facility, several hotel shoots, a wedding shoot for a show called "Whose Wedding is in Anyhow?" This was an awesome experience and the episode I was involved with will air some time early next year (January or February).

After all those commercial shoots Brad the 'big daddy' of FFF introduced me to a talented young artist named Katie Mariah. So now I am heavily involved with helping promote her, also thanks to Katie's daily blogging she's inspired me to blog, so checks Katie's blog out.

Any how back to what I was saying... oh yes, I've been creating videos that have been posted to youtube. You can view the latest one. Enjoy.
